BREAKING NEWS: Universal Peace Federation Supports PM Hun Sen’s Peace Mission to Myanmar

PHNOM PENH: The Chairman of the Universal Peace Federation, Thomas G. Walsh has released a statement letter declaring the organization supports Prime Minister of Cambodia Hun Sen as chairman of ASEAN, for leading Peace Mission to Myanmar.

The letter stresses the “current crisis in Myanmar is of global significance and the expedited effort to defuse the situation is imperative”. Thomas Walsh has also written that “as a result of ASEAN and Samdech Hun Sen’s efforts, substantial progress is being made toward a resolution of the current crisis.

The statement applauds the outcomes of the Peace Mission stated in the Joint Statement adopted on 7 January which opens a path to reconciliation and peace in Myanmar:

 “UPF stands in full support of these outcomes and agreements:

1. The agreement to maintain a ceasefire until de end of 2022.

2. The agreement to allow Special Envoys to meet all parties to the conflict

3. The agreement to allow Humanitarian assistance”.
